RUDLEY - THE LAST BOX - OVERKILL BOX - GUITAR EFFECTS PEDAL

EXTREME GUITAR STOMP BOX

Guitar Stomp Box - Distorsion or Clear Boost for Rock, Acoustic, Classical, & Jazz Guitar

"THE LAST BOX" provides a clean or distorted boost. "THE LAST BOX" is handmade, and each unit is somewhat unique.

The concept of "THE LAST BOX" is a real game changer. Since unlike most boost effect pedals which can output an audio signal voltage range up to about 5 Volts, "THE LAST BOX" can provide up to about a 20 Volt range. This will provide you a lot more power and volume and will overdrive your amplifier. "THE LAST BOX" also has special filtering shaping characteristics to provide your guitar a great tone.

If you are an aggressive rock guitarist and you want to out-do your peers and sound better and louder than them, and stick-out, then this box is for you.

If you are an acoustic, jazz, or classical player, "THE LAST BOX" will provide you a clean powerful sound that will amplify your guitar's finer sound quality characteristics.

"THE LAST BOX" will make your cheaper equipment sound like more expensive equipment.

"THE LAST BOX" will make your good equipment sound great.

"THE LAST BOX" was named the "THE LAST BOX" since it is suggested to be the last box in the chain of pedal effect boxes. The "OVERKILL BOX" name was added since it can provide a great amount of overdrive capability to the amplifier which is an overkill.

While most audio stomp boxes have an audio dynamic voltage range of +/-5 Volts. "THE LAST BOX" provides an audio dynamic voltage range up to +/-20 Volts. Because of the higher output voltage range, I put a warning on "THE LAST BOX" to check that your amplifier or other connecting equipment won't be damaged by such a high input voltage. So far, all of the devices that I have tried, hadn't been damaged. But I put a "Use-At-Own-Risk" Warning Label on "THE LAST BOX" to remind the user to be careful not to turn-up the volume so loud and to avoid damage to your equipment. The higher voltage range provides a signal that has much more power than the standard stomp box. Thereby, this creates a much more powerful signal and stronger over-tones.

Highpass filtering was added to "THE LAST BOX" to provide filtering shaping to bring out the unique low-level sound qualities of your guitar, and to bring out the over-tones.

It is called "THE LAST BOX" because it is recommended to make this the last box in your chain of pedal effects. However, it is up to you to experiment. Normally, boost and distortion is placed as the first box in the chain. But because of the extreme overdrive capabilities of "THE LAST BOX", it is recommended to make it the last box in the chain.

I put a warning on the box to make sure your amplifier can handle the higher voltage. If it can't, just don't turn up the volume too high on "THE LAST BOX". I haven't had any problems so far blowing out any amps. But I am guessing, if you are very aggressive, be careful not to blow out your amplifier or speakers.

"THE LAST BOX" can run off a 9 Volt internal battery or standard 9 Volt external pedal board power. For external power, the ground is the center contact and the plus 9 Volts is the outer contact of the plug. Do not exceed 10 Vdc for the external DC power.

When connecting the input plug, that action will turn on the power for "THE LAST BOX". So, it is recommended when not using "THE LAST BOX" to disconnect input plug when using battery power to avoid draining the 9 Volt battery. The 9 Volt battery life is expected to be at least 50 hours when an alkaline battery is used.

When the effect is active, the LED on "THE LAST BOX" will illuminate. "THE LAST BOX" is all analog and has true bypass when the effect is selected off.

The GAIN KNOB can provide up to 500 Volts per Volt, that's 54 dB of gain. When the GAIN KNOB is turned up, it will saturate the Op-Amp and clip the signal; thereby, providing a distorted signal. When the GAIN KNOB is turned down, it provides a clean boost that is not saturated.

The TONE KNOB provides a High "Q" highpass filter. When turned down, it allows the bass content to pass through. When turned up, it provides great treble content. It is recommended to use this knob to tune the effect to the desired tone. Over-tones can be selected using this knob.

The VOLUME KNOB can provide up to 3.0 Volts per Volt, that's 10 dB of gain. It is also used to provide attenuation. When playing a distorted signal with the GAIN KNOB turned up, it is recommended to use the VOLUME KNOB to attenuate the signal to prevent too much overdrive to your amplifier. When the GAIN KNOB is turned down playing a clean signal, it is recommended to turn the VOLUME KNOB up, if greater clean boost is desired.

The overall gain potential is 1,500 Volts per Volt, that's 64 dB of gain.

Because of the high gain potential of "THE LAST BOX" when using distortion, it is recommended to use humbucking pick-ups to avoid noise. However, it is up to you to experiment and single pole-non-humbucking pick-ups will also work well.

"THE LAST BOX" is nice even at high gain and high distortion levels, when there is no sound, the noise levels are low. Many other high gain effect pedals do not have the capability to suppress noise like what "THE LAST BOX" can provide.
